Historic Rio

Rio de Janeiro is famous for its beaches, Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf. But it is also full of historic and cultural treasures, and has 460 years worth of stories to tell.

We'll visit internationally famous public art works like the Selaron Staircase and the spectacular Etnias grafitti mural; iconic architecture like the Lapa Arches and City Cathedral, sites integral to Afro-Brazilian culture and the origins of samba, and visit monuments to the colonial era as well as the golden age of the city.

Mountain Bike Rainforest Tour

Spectacular nature & views

The Tijuca Forest is the world's biggest urban rainforest. It a national park, and is both integral to the history of the city and an important sanctuary for many threatened species. It is also one of the best bike rides you'll ever do from any city anywhere in the world. 

The views on this ride are spectacular, taking in all angles of the city, and visiting lookouts where very few tourists go.

Die Tour mit Michael war super! Am Abend vor der Tour hat er sich nach unseren Größen erkundigt und die Räder im Voraus auf uns eingestellt. Die Tour ist eine tolle, sportliche Abwechslung zum üblichen Touristenprogramm in RJ. Auf dem Weg zeigte uns Michael tolle Aussichtspunkte und erzählte uns viel über die Geschichte der Region. Wir können die Tour wärmstens all jenen empfehlen, die sich sportlich und kulturell bei ihrem Besuch in RJ ausleben möchten!

I had a wonderful experience with Michael. He has been living in Brazil for over 20 years and, as an Australian, speaks perfect English as well as fluent Portuguese — which was extremely helpful for me since I only speak English. Michael knows Rio inside and out, from the core historical neighborhoods to the city’s rich history, culture, and art. Following him through the city was not only fun but also very informative. Riding in his bike made the whole afternoon comfortable and relaxing, and I was amazed by how many different aspects of Rio I was able to explore in such a short time. Exploring the city this way was a unique experience — it would have been very difficult to discover so much just on foot. The bike made it even more engaging and enjoyable. Excellent time and value around the historic center
Michael was a great guide and he tried hard for me to get the best value, also created beautiful photo opportunities . His knowledge in Brazil and Rio history was amazing, and he also had a lot of local tips. We have covered a lot of places that I would not be able to do myself on the foot. I felt very safe the whole time, and truly enjoyed the ride.

Michael was a very hospitable and knowledgeable guide! We went to many interesting spots in the city, and is flexible with the itinerary and adjust to your speed when exploring the spots. He showed also spots around the centro that are safe/unsafe, very important especially for those who haven't been to Rio/Brazil. He even drops me off the metro on the return back. Highly recommended! Nice way to discover the old town
Nice way to explore the city: you will quickly get to different places in the old center of Rio. You discover nice places. Through this eco way of traveling you also get in touch with the population who are interested in the bike. Guide knows a lot about the history of Brazil.

Our pedicabs

Our pedicabs are pedal-powered electric-assisted tricycles that can carry 4 passengers, plus your rider/guide. We currently limit our tour groups to two pedicabs, for a total of 8 guests. The pedicabs are speed limited to 20 km/h (12 mp/h) and have hydraulic disc brakes, passenger seat belts and a solar panel to charge the batteries.

 
 

Our Bikes

We provide 29 inch mountain bikes with aluminium frames, front suspension, hydraulic disc brakes and a wide gear range to manage the climbs in the forest ride. Our bikes are equipped with quality components and maintained to a high standard. We also provide helmets for our rides.
